Tony Aliberti

Mr. Tony Aliberti, NYSE Euronext, received the Tony Fireman award in 2008. Tony's career in the industry spanned four decades, almost all of it for one organization.  His contributions included assisting exchange-listed companies to allow them to raise capital and conduct their business affairs.  Over the course of his long and distinguished career, he made many significant contributions in the evolution of the securities industry.

Tony was instrumental in several exchange rule changes with the SEC, many of which were requested by industry groups and the issuer community. He was an industry leader on various initiatives including the transition from the T+5 settlement cycle to T+3, determining Rule 452 interpretations, eliminating NYC drop requirements, DRS eligibility requirements, corporate action liability notification, Medallion Signature Program and many more.

Throughout his career, Tony has been an invaluable resource to issuers and their agents, never hesitating to provide expert counsel and guidance. Tony embodies the strong dedication to service, willingness to provide assistance and the personal character and integrity demonstrated by Tony Fireman.  After September 11, Tony and three members of his team came to work the following Friday, working with no utilities or fresh air and prepared the markets and the financial industry to ensure an orderly NYSE opening on Monday, September 17, 2001.
