Karl’s responsibilities at Merck include managing the relationship with the company’s transfer agent and other related service providers. Karl also coordinates the entire distribution, solicitation and vote tabulation process for the company’s annual stockholder meeting as well as handling various SEC filings. In 1997, he introduced a direct stock purchase plan that has continued to maintain a 70% shareholder participation level since its inception.
Karl currently serving as vice president of the SSA Board which he joined in 1998 and is also a past president of the Association. Karl has been an active member of the STA Operations Committee and also a member of The Keane Organization client advisory board. Prior to joining Merck in 1991, Karl worked for 12 years in the Stock Transfer Department of The Connecticut Bank & Trust Co. where he was responsible for Client Administration.
Karl received a B. S. degree in General Management from the University of New Haven. Karl has two daughters and resides in Pennsylvania with his wife Doreen.
