Shareholder Services Association Statement of Purpose
The Shareholder Services Association (SSA) is a professional organization whose purpose is to support corporate issuers in effectively meeting their responsibilities for shareholder recordkeeping and service.
The SSA is committed to:
- maintaining platforms that enable our corporate issuer and service provider members to share information and ideas,
- monitoring emerging issues,
- actively engaging in dialogue with regulatory entities, and
- providing industry education and training opportunities.
ABOUT SSA - The Shareholder Services Association, Inc. (SSA), founded in 1946 as the Corporate Transfer Agents Association (CTA), represents corporations, transfer agents and individual professionals reflecting the diversity found in every facet of the securities industry. SSA provides members a forum through which they can monitor securities industry issues and events, communicate with their industry peers, obtain and share information, and address needs in servicing security holders. Member corporations, whether in-house transfer agents or issuers using the services of a commercial agent, perform activities related to all areas of investor services including securities transfer, record keeping, dividend disbursement, dividend reinvestment and stock purchase plans, proxy tabulation and annual meetings, demutualizations, investor and shareholder relations. Members also represent companies that provide transfer agent and ancillary services which include corporate mailings, proxy solicitations, shareholder buybacks, lost shareholder investigation and financial printing.
AFFILIATIONS - SSA works with other industry organizations such as the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals (formerly ASCS), the national and regional chapters of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and the Securities Transfer Association to develop ideas and rules that will improve investor services. The SSA also maintains a close association with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the New York Stock Exchange, as well as with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, Internal Revenue Service, the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators, and the Unclaimed Property Holder Liaison Council. Through standing and ad hoc committees, personal contact and letter writing, the SSA is active in communicating the membership's views on the vital issues facing our industry.

- Actively monitor and participate in securities and shareholder services industry initiatives, legislation and activities
- Proactively respond to legal and legislative issues and inform our members so they can review and comment
- Provide education, informational and networking opportunities for our members
- Expand content and features on the web site
- Engage more members in association initiatives
