Meet a Director
James Alden, SSA President, is a Director, Shareholder Services for The Walt Disney Company Jim has worked in the securities industry for the past 38 years. He began his career with the Bank of America managing their Corporate Trust/Mutual Funds operation in Los Angeles. In 1970, Jim joined Southern California Edison Company where he was responsible for managing the transfer agent and registrar activities for approximately 160,000 retail shareholders. He was elected Assistant Corporate Secretary in 1993. Jim's other responsibilities focused on managing the companies Investor Relations website, and spearheading a retail broker/investor club targeting program designed to service the retail investor segment of the shareholder base. In 1993 he was responsible for introducing the industries first interactive voice response system for Edison shareholders. In 1997, with the support of SunGard Investor Accounting Systems, Jim helped pioneer the industry's first interactive shareholder website.
After leaving Edison in 2000, Jim assumed the role of Director, Shareholder Services for The Walt Disney Company. At Walt Disney he is responsible for managing a retail shareholder base of over 1,000,000 shareholders. Jim is active in the Shareholder Services community. He is a member of the STA and The Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals.
Jim graduated from Woodbury College with a BS degree in Business Administration. He has two sons, and resides in Sierra Madre, California with his wife Linda.
Joni Aeschbach, SSA Vice President, Alliant Energy Corporation Manager, Shareowner Services, Joni has been with Alliant Energy for over 33 years and involved in shareowner servicing for 30 years. She is responsible for managing the in-house transfer agent and registrar activity as the sole transfer agent for Alliant Energy’s 55,000 shareowners. She is also responsible for all aspects of the dividend reinvestment plan, proxy mailing and tabulating, annual meeting coordination, year-end reporting, dividend payments, escheatment, stock option administration and insider reporting on Form 3, 4 and 5’s. Joni managed multiply stock redemptions, several exchanges and tenders and successfully did a 3-way merger totally in-house.
Joni is currently serving as a director of the Shareholder Services Association and as Vice President of the Midwest Stock Transfer Association. She is also currently involved on several committees such as the SIC Advisory Board committee and the STA Unclaimed Property Committee.
Joni resides in Madison, Wisconsin with her husband Tom who joins her as often as he possibly can at conferences. They both love to travel and play golf. They have a son and a daughter.
Joan M. DiBlasi,
SSA Secretary,
Joan began her career with AFLAC in 1985. As an in-house transfer agent, Joan is responsible for AFLAC Incorporated's equity security compliance. She has served as President of the Corporate Transfer Agents Association from 1997 - 1999, and is continuing to serve as a Director and Secretary. Joan is currently involved on several committees such as the DRS Joint Industry Committee, the DRW Working Group.
Christopher G. Dowd,

Chris is Senior Managing Director at Georgeson Inc, a Computershare Company; he has over nineteen years experience consulting with Fortune 500 and small to mid cap corporations in the field of corporate governance, equity compensation and proxy solicitation. Prior to the merger with Georgeson, Chris was a Director of Kissel-Blake Inc. where he managed the corporate governance consulting, mergers/acquisitions and proxy solicitation divisions.
Chris holds a B.A. and a M.B.A. in business from St. John's University, New York and was awarded his CCP certification in executive compensation from the American Compensation Association. Elected to the SSA Board in 2003 where he currently serves as the Associations Treasurer, Chris is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, American Compensation Association, American Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals and National Association of Stock Plan Professionals. He has been a featured speaker at St. John's University, industry seminars, law firms and conferences discussing corporate governance and executive compensation topics.
Chris resides in Millstone New Jersey with his wife Susan and son Christopher, both of whom participate actively in the SSA Annual Conference.
Gaston B. Alvaro - VP Relationship Management, Citi Securities & Fund Services. Gaston is a Vice President for Citi Hedge Fund Services which provides administration and investor services for the hedge fund and private equity industry. Prior to joining Citi, Gaston held several officer level responsibilities with D.F. King, Computershare, EquiServe, The CapitaLink Group as well as The U.S. Trust Company of New York.
Gaston was elected to the SSA Board in 2003 where he brings 24 years of industry experience. Gaston has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University and a Masters Degree from Monmouth University. He resides in the Jersey Shore with his wife Jacqueline and their 3 children.
Anthony H. Battista – Public Service Enterprise Group – Manager, Shareholder Services
Tony is currently the manager of Shareholder Services for Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. located in Newark, New Jersey. Tony has worked in the securities industry at PSEG for about 20 of his 26 years with the company. Tony has had other roles in PSEG in areas such as Insurance Risk and Management, Investor Relations and Corporate Planning. Tony’s current responsibility is managing the relationship with the transfer agent and to stay heavily involved in all stockholder related functions for PSEG such as shareholder communications, proxy distribution, stock options, and quarterly dividend distribution. Prior to outsourcing the stockholder services function in May, 2007, Tony managed an in-house operation with the responsibility of all aspects of Stockholder Services that included products and services, shareholder communications and stockholder transfer and accounting.
Tony graduated from Rutgers University School of Management with a BS degree in finance. Tony has been an active member of the SSA for many years and in 2007 was elected to the board. He also participates on several securities industry related advisory committees. He lives in Livingston, New Jersey with his wife and 3 boys. Tony is also very active in coaching his boys in football, baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer.
Karen V. Danielson- The Coca-Cola Company, Manager, Shareowner Services. Karen began her career with The Coca-Cola Company in 1981 in the Company's Business Information Library and Archives Department. She joined the Office of the Secretary in 1984 and has held various positions since that time. Karen is responsible for the relationship with the Company's registrar and transfer agent and proxy solicitor, managing a registered shareowner base of 315,000 shareowners. She also manages a multi-million dollar budget for the Office of the Secretary. Over the past several years, Karen has become an advocate of electronic delivery of shareowner communications. As a result of her efforts, The Coca-Cola Company has been recognized as a Foundation member of e-Tree. Karen is a member of The Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals and serves on Computershare's Advisory Board.
Karen resides in Atlanta with her husband Jay.
Ray Dunn - Managing Director, Dry Valley Advisors, LLC.
Ray is the Managing Director of Dry Valley Advisors, LLC which provides strategic shareholder services consulting to corporate issuers and shareholder industry service providers. He was formerly an SSA Vice President and retired as Director of Shareowner Services for The Southern Company in 2008. His responsibilities at Southern included management of the registered in-house transfer agent, the Company's direct stock purchase plan, director compensation processing, retail investor relations, and proxy production and distribution and Annual Meeting operations.
While at Southern, he was involved with the Savannah Electric stock exchange, development of an unclaimed property reporting program, and installation of the CSSII stock processing system. In 1994, he managed Southern's 2 for 1 stock split and in 2001 managed the operational process resulting in the spin-off of Mirant Corporation.
Dunn holds a BS degree from the University of Tennessee, an MA from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Georgia State University. He has earned a NASD Series 7 General Securities license. He is married, has a 25 year-old son, and enjoys golf, snow skiing, and travel.
Keith Ecke- Assistant Corporate Secretary - Wisconson Energy Corp. & WE Energies. Keith has served as assistant corporate secretary for Wisconsin Energy Corp. and We Energies since May 2001. Keith manages initiatives that support the companies' board of directors and its corporate governance activities. Keith also manages stockholder services and the relationship with the company's stock transfer agent. He also is responsible for certain compliance issues related to corporate policies and Securities and Exchange Commission and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) regulations.
Keith joined Wisconsin Energy in 1985 as an analyst in the Corporate Secretary department and has held several positions within the company involving compliance and ethics, corporate governance, board services and stockholder services. Prior to joining the company, Keith was a marketing manager for Telephone & Data Systems, an independent telecommunications holding company in Madison, Wisconsin.
Keith holds a bachelor's degree in management and marketing from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He also has earned the Certified Compensation Professional designation and certificates in Executive Compensation and Salary Administration from the American Compensation Association.
Additionally, Keith is a member of Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association and serves as a director of the Shareholder Services Association. He is also a director of the American Red Cross in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Keith resides in Germantown, Wisconsin with his wife Jennifer and daughter Lauren.
Jay Ernst – The Procter & Gamble Company – Manager, Shareholder Services
Jay joined P&G Investor Relations in 2004 following his work in the Finance Department of Cincinnati based American Financial Group, Inc. At AFG, Jay was a Treasury Analyst and Manager of Securities Transfer Company, AFG’s in-house transfer agent, from 1997-2004.
At P&G, Jay manages the Shareholder Services Department, a full service transfer agent and administrator of the P&G Shareholder Investment Program, the company’s DSPP/DRIP. P&G Shareholder Services strives to provide personal attention to the diverse needs of our individual shareholders while promoting our company and its brands. Jay is also responsible for managing P&G’s Retail Investor Program, whose aim is to provide individual investors with information about P&G in support of the continued growth of our retail investor base.
Jay is a 1990 graduate of Xavier University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, earning his Ohio CPA certificate in 1993. Jay is a lifelong resident of Cincinnati where he resides with his wife Angie and their two daughters.
Kenneth R. Kaminski - Manager, Shareholder Services, for BP p.l.c. Ken's responsibilities include communications to U.S. shareholders, working with the U.S. transfer agent and related service providers, and managing the US proxy distribution and voting process for BP p.l.c. He also participates in various North American retail investor marketing initiatives for BP. Prior to outsourcing the record keeping function in 1997, Ken managed that function in-house, which at that time was Amoco Corporation. Prior to joining Amoco in 1982 Ken held various management positions at a commercial transfer agent.
Ken was elected to the SSA Board in 2001 and has been an active member of the Communications Committee. He also participates on several securities industry related advisory committees.
Ken received a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from DePaul University.
He lives outside of Chicago with his wife, Carol, and their four children.
Jane Keister is Manager, Shareholder Services, at StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. She joined StanCorp in 1998, participating in an insurance company demutualization. She currently acts as transfer agent liaison, managing a registered shareholder base of over 54,000 shareholders, along with assisting with investor relations responsibilities. Prior to joining StanCorp, she worked for more than 30 years in the Stock Transfer/Shareholder Services Departments of U.S. Bank.
Jane was elected to the SSA Board in 2004. She was also a Board Member of WSTA with active participation for many years.
She has two sons who are both married and one granddaughter.
Ellen Philip - Founder and President, Ellen Philip Associates, Ellen Philip is the founder and president of Ellen Philip Associates, a company that has been part of the shareholder services community for almost 30 years. She got her introduction to data-processing in Paris in the early nineteen-sixties, when she worked for International General Electric after it had installed its first computer in France. She later worked as a programmer for International General Electric in New York, and spent seven years teaching math in the New York City school system before becoming an entrepreneur. Ellen, who holds a BA degree from Vassar College, is a native of Long Island and lives in Manhattan.
Katie Sevcik - Senior Vice President and Head of Operations, Wells Fargo Shareowner Services. Katie has over 27 years of experience in the securities industry including transfer agent services, bank trust operations, and mutual fund operations.
Current industry involvement includes chairperson of the securities industry's Direct Registration System (DRS) Guidelines Committee, a director of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association's (SIFMA) Corporate Actions Board, and a member of the Securities Transfer Association (STA) Operations Processing Committee. She is the past Vice President and Treasurer of the Securities Transfer Association and past co-chair of the Securities Industry Association (SIA) Corporate Actions working group on payments/physical securities processing.
Prior to her involvement in the stock transfer industry, Katie worked with the mutual fund industry on automating mutual fund processing for the trust environment. She was a member of the Investment Company Institute's (ICI) Trust and Bank Broker/Dealer Advisory Committee; a member of the ICI's Defined Contribution Clearing Task Force which developed the NSCC's (National Securities Clearing Corporation) Defined Contribution Clearing System; and chairperson of the ICI's Trust Processing Task Force which developed the NSCC's Trust Processing enhancement to the industry's automated mutual fund processing system (Fund/SERV and Networking).
Katie graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN with a B.A. in Economics. She resides in Cottage Grove, MN with her husband Kevin and 2 of their 3 daughters. They also have one son.
Charles Skipper - Supervisor, Shareholder Services, Hi, I am Charles Skipper with SCANA Corporation located in Columbia, SC. SCANA is a utility holding company and I started with the company out of college, with a BS in Accounting, working in our utility Customer Accounting area. After a brief stint in our Rate Making Department and a move back to Customer Accounting I was given the "opportunity" to move into Shareholder Services in August 1990. Since being in Shareholder Services I have seen the department move from using co-transfer agents to doing everything in-house on the CSSII system. We started one of the first direct purchase plans in 1993 and have been through every phase of shareholder service activity to include a stock split, several mergers and moving to DTC FAST. Even though we are a small issuer/transfer agent we attempt to provide all the services of larger agents and are looking at implementing DRS in 2005. I have served on the CSSII user board; the SESTA, regional STA, board; and currently serve on the
SSA board. I am married with four daughters, one grandson (thanks for another male in the family) and one granddaughter.
Joseph Trezza - Vice President - Product Management The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. Joe provides product development, marketing and maintenance support for the depository's securities processing, corporate actions and dividend and interest asset servicing areas. For 2006, Joe's major initiatives center on the ongoing industry effort to improve processing efficiencies, further dematerialize physical securities certificates and introduce new issuer service product offerings to the industry.
Joe began his securities career during the late 60's paper crunch and joined DTC in 1972. Since then he has held numerous positions in the operations and administration areas, including Corporate Trust Services, Municipal Redemptions, Securities Processing, Certificate Inventory, Cash Receipts and Stock Dividends. Joe is an active member of various industry groups and committees.
Joe is 53 years old and lives in New York City with his wife, three kids and two dogs.
Karl H. Wagner,
SSA Director, is Assistant Secretary at Merck & Co. His responsibilities include distribution of the quarterly dividend payments, coordination of proxy mailing to all registered and "street" holders, and managing shareholder calls coming into Merck via a toll-free number. In 1997, he introduced a direct stock purchase plan that has maintained a 70% shareholder participation level.
Karl was elected to the SSA Board in 1998 and has been an active member of the STA Operations Committee. Prior to joining Merck in 1991, he worked for 12 years in the Stock Transfer Department of The Connecticut Bank & Trust Co. where he was responsible for Client Administration.
He has been married for 25 years and has 2 daughters, one that just graduated from college and one that will be entering college this fall.
