Anna Armendariz, Shareholder Services Administrator, Anthem, Inc. – Indianapolis, Indiana
My role at Anthem:
Anthem is one of the nation’s leading health benefits companies and is working to transform health care with trusted and caring solutions. My role in the Corporate Secretary’s office is split between Shareholder Services and supporting our Board of Directors. Shareholder services responsibilities include proxy statement preparation, proxy material mailing and annual meeting, review of Forms 3, 4, 5, and 8-K, and management of the departmental budgets. Board support includes board correspondence, director cash and deferred compensation, posting of board materials in our board portal, d & o questionnaires and biographical affidavits, and director assessments. June marks my one-year anniversary with Anthem.
Why I’m a member of the SSA:
I first had the opportunity to join the SSA in late 2015. As a former member of the SCCE and NIRI, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome that I received at my first SSA annual conference in 2016. I recall being invited to a newcomer’s event where I was greeted by some of the SSA Board members. For me, the most valuable part of the membership revolves around the ability to reach out to other members and gather valuable industry insights. Other SSA members who have already gone through transfer agent RFPs, odd lot buybacks or other matters are more than willing to share their knowledge with others.
A little bit about me:
Shortly after graduating from the University of Dayton, I moved to the “big city” to begin my career as an Accounting Clerk. One year later the Corporate Secretary at Peoples Energy (in Chicago) brought me onboard and started me on a career path within the Corporate Secretary’s office. I spent 6 years in the Corporate Secretary’s office and then transitioned to a combined Investor Relations/Shareholder Services role for about 5 years. After enduring through two acquisitions and a reorganization, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in business. I graduated with a MBA from Concordia University in 2017. I also have a 6 year old son who has taught me the importance of family. We have been living in Indianapolis for about a year now; and recently settled into our new home. I look forward to making it our own!
