My Role at Donnelley Financial Solutions:
As Director, Corporate Governance Services for Donnelley Financial Solutions, I work with our company's clients and their customer service teams to assist these clients in creating or evolving their proxy statements to more effectively communicate their key messages to their investors. Donnelley's market-leading position and broad-based capabilities supporting companies with various aspects of their proxies, from content assistance, creative design, collaboration tools, SEC filing, printing, distribution, web-hosting through end-to-end annual meeting services, brings me into contact with many leading companies and their very creative and talented executives. I have been in this position with Donnelley for the past five years, and this position leverages my prior experience, which was 30+ years in the proxy solicitation and investor relations fields.
Why I am a member of the SSA:
The SSA is a great member education and networking organization, and many of our leading clients and other individuals I have known and respected for many years are longstanding members and thought leadership contributors. I am very pleased to participate in the SSA's activities, both learning, and sharing, about significant topics of mutual interest.
A little about me:
I am happily married to my lovely wife Lisa for seventeen years. We met when I was working for Mellon Financial and she for the Bank of New York. A few years after our "merger (i.e. marriage)", the companies also merged. Imagine that!
We have two boys, ages 14 and 16, who keep us hopping between their school, friends and activities, which primarily are soccer and track.
In fact, as a family we attended an SSA annual conference a few years ago (Palm Coast, Florida), and we can't thank the SSA enough for the kind and generous treatment they afforded us, with me then being classified a "non-member speaker".
I'll never forget the words of my oldest son Alex, then under 10 years old, who upon first viewing the amazing accommodations we were provided, looked up at me and said "Dad, you're either really good at what you do, or someone likes us"!. An eventual goal of ours, driven by my wife's love of the Jersey shore, is to retire to a beach (or "near beach") house. And that's a goal.....but given my son's ages and with college looming in the future, retirement is a ways away for me.
